3 Strategies to Boost Your Business and Morale

1. Forget the Quick-Fix Business Model

One of the hardest things about being an entrepreneur, especially in the age of the Internet, is all of the untruths that entrepreneurs are exposed to every day online.  If I had a dollar for every “guru” who claims they are earning 5 and 6 figures a month, I’d be a millionaire.  Now don’t get me wrong; this is possible for you but it’s going to take some time to build your business.

I don’t have a problem with people sharing with and proving to you that they are an expertise by sharing their monthly income and growth levels; this should motivate to keep working on growing your business.  What I do have a problem with are people who falsely state they went from a $10 an hour job to 6 figures a month in 6 months, etc.  It COULD happen but is not the norm!

Most actors, singers, sports figures – celebrities in general – do not hit it big overnight; they often tell stories of years of sacrifice, failures and the like and it usually takes more than a few months to generate a certain level of income.

So instead of allowing this stuff to fill your head and make you miserable because you are discouraged that you’ve been at it a year and are still not earning 6 figures a month, focus on:  setting clear goals to gradually and methodically build your business.  The greatest thing you want to do at this point is to make sure that you are taking action that is actually pushing your business toward growth.

2. Put on Blinders and Stay in Your Lane!

Okay if you are like me, while on Facebook, you see an ad for a webinar or a video that sounds exactly like what you need.  You say to yourself (for the 100th time), “This sounds just like what I need” or “This video looks like it’ll teach me what I need to quickly increase my income.”

How do I know this?  Because I was that girl; even now I have to fight the urge to click the link or ad.  And lately, every time I have given in and clicked the ad, I am sorely disappointed because I can clearly see there is nothing new under the sun.

Now I’m not saying you won’t learn something that may help you but if this becomes a habit for you, you will find yourself pulled in different directions, throwing out what you’ve been working on and trying something new that may not work. As motivational speaker, Jewel Diamond Taylor likes to say, “Keep the main thing the main thing!” Stay focused and follow and work your plan!

3. Make Sure Your Goal is REALLY YOUR GOAL

Do some soul searching and make sure that your business goals are YOUR goals and are not influenced by the banter, ads on the internet or your desire for quick income.  I spoke with a young lady a few weeks ago who really felt the pull to become a business coach because life coaching did not make her happy.  I could tell she was struggling with allowing herself to let life coaching go because she likes helping people and she, for whatever reason, felt like this is what she needed to include in her business.

Don’t allow yourself to continue to offer a service or product that doesn’t resonate with your soul or your target market.  If there is some aspect of your business that is really making your miserable or you approach that part of your business like you are being led to slaughter, change what you are doing; rethink, redo and retool your goal.
