CAUTION
Listen, if you decide to start this journey to entrepreneurship, just like most people (me included), there is going to be this voice in your head warning you of impending danger. That part of your brain is called the amygdala. It’s a small almond-shaped cluster of neurons in the brain which plays a crucial role in our survival and well-being. One of its primary functions is to keep us safe by alerting us to potential threats and dangers in our environment. It does this by constantly scanning for signs of danger and triggering the body's stress response when it detects a potential threat.
While this protective mechanism is essential for our survival, it can also keep us stuck in our comfort zone. If any or all of the following questions, statements, or thoughts are constantly zipping back and forth in your mind, beware, this is just the amygdala doing it’s job! Just tell it to calm down because you are not being chased by a bear or an alligator.
I’m too old to start a business.
I’ll probably never be able to afford to retire.
When will I find the time?
I don’t have the money to get started.
